DASHMESH_SINGH_class_10_HPSDashmesh Singh, a budding artist and a student of class 10, HainaultPublic School, Shimla, absolutely justifies the saying “If you’re young and talented, it’s like you have wings,” by Haruki Murakami, a well known Japanese writer. His flair for painting gives his imagination wings and confidence to achieve big things in life.

Dashmesh prefers using water colour for his paintings and loves drawing realistic sceneries. He started painting at a very young age. The first person to recognise his talent was his mother. He believes that he has inherited this talent from his grandmother and mother and considers them to be his inspiration. He says, “when he was a kid he did his schooling from Rohru and studies at SilverBellsSchool, where his teacher, Mrs Sulakshna noticed his talent and acted as a guide / mentor in developing his talent”.

His fervour and interest has helped him won many competitions at various levels and the most recent one was a competition titled ‘Past and Present Shimla’ organised by the Himachal Tourism Department in June 2013 which won him a cash prize worth Rs. 5000/. He recollects this as one of his most memorable moments as his painting was selected to be displayed in Gaiety Theatre, Shimla, among the best paintings of students from different schools of Shimla.Award_Winning_Painting_Dashmesh-Singh

His hobbies other than painting are playing football, cricket and reading computer related magazines. Dashmesh truly believes that time management is the key to being a successful student. Busy with preparing for his board exams coming up next year, he takes out time to paint on weekends. His favourite artist is M.F. Hussain and The Blind Man’s Meal by Picasso is one of his favourite paintings. He aims to becomes IAS just like his father or his keen interest in computers may change his direction into becoming a software engineer, but that only time will tell.

No matter what he achieves in life, he promises to be loyal and devoted towards his passion for painting!
