Going by the motto that real purpose of a school is not just to impart education and fill minds of students with the same information but to give wings to them to discover their true nature, as students of Swarn Public School, Tutikandi, Shimla, presented a wonderful show in form of their annual concert, held at the Gaiety Theater. The strongest, most generous and proudest of all virtues is true courage and every single day our soldiers prove it, as they are guarding the borders and in order to pay homage to the Indian Army, the students presented a cultural program based on theme “A Tribute to the Army”.
During the occasion Col. H S Ghuman (Col. GS (P&D)) was present as the Chief Guest who was deeply moved by the heart wrenching performances of the students, especially a small musical skit depicting the life of a soldier for whom it’s always — “Duty comes first and everything else takes a back seat”.
Students presented amazing and different dances bringing the flavours of states to life, may that be of Rajasthan — a dance on song Ghoom, Punjab — a Bhangra, Phari Nati or a Waltz. Audiences also got an opportunity to experience that magic of Lord Shiva, as a Tandav dance was presented.
A Tummy Face dance came as a surprise for all, as the students painted their tummies and presented a funny dance that totally entertained all and made them giggle. Students even gave a valuable lesson of saving water as considering the rate at which our resources are getting exhausted, time is not far when we will be completely run out of it. It is wise to save it on time then to repent later. Tiny tots presented a wonderful fashion show, which was totally overloaded with cuteness whereas students of senior classes presented a fusion dance to entertain all.
Ghuman was full of praises for the staff as well as the students for presenting a great show. He highlighted the various options that students have if they wanted to join the Army as army is not just about being a battlefield for soldiers with a gun alone but even engineers, doctors and many other options are available for one to be in an Army and serve the mother land.
Seema Mehta, School Principal, appreciated the hard work and once again encouraged parents to let their child fly and follow his/her dreams as — “Life is not just about marks”, she insisted. She also presented the annual report to highlight the achievements of the school during the academic session.
Students were awarded for their achievements for the year. The day ended on a happy note with a National Anthem.
