We have often heard the statement beat the heat but students of Chapslee School not only defeated the heat but outshined it as they made the temperature rise, whilst competing for first place during their Annual Sports’ Day held at the Police Grounds, Bharari, Shimla.

The day started by by welcoming the Chief Guest, Chairman of Chapslee School  Kunwar Ratan Jeet Singh which was followed by a March Past of students from all four houses including Nilgiri, Shivalik, Vindhya and Himalaya. The event began with lighting of torch.

Students from various houses exhibited their physical strength as they participated in different events like baton relay, Yoga, gymnastic, tug of war and inter school races. Students of Auckland House for Girls, St Edwards, Laureate Public School and Dayanand school were present to compete with each other.

Sports inspite of being a serious business, a student dressed as clown bought smiles and laughs with his silly reactions in contrast to the hard physical changes that were faced by students during their performances — a reflection of the fact that being a spectator for another person jumping out of the fire ring is an easy task but in reality it is no child’s play.

Apart from the students, even parents tested their fitness as they participated in races organized for them in two categories – ladies and gentlemen.

School Director Pronati Singh congratulated the students for their achievements and encouraged them to participate in all the events. She also gave a message to parents that all children are not alike and it was indeed significant that they become witness to this day as they can easily see that their child is good in sports if not studies. She stressed on the need of parents to be considerate as per their talent and help their child to polish and excel in it.

The day ended with prize distribution and winners from different races were awarded with medals. Over all Vidhya House was declared first, Himalaya second and Shivalik third.
