A piece of me; I give to you; I coloured this Picture; To say I Love you; The heart is you; The hand is me: Happy Mother’s Day !!!

Orchid1A mother always has a special place in our hearts, and what was witnessed here today at Orchid Prep School was purely enchanting and mesmerizing. The stage was set for the mothers as the School Principal Neelam Vij and her staff members had lined up few very interesting activities for them. The event started with a three-legged race for the mothers and the little ones were cheering for their moms, encouraging them to win the race, which was then followed by another competition for knotting the neckties. The next in line was the Baby Steps by both mom and kids. Showing enthusiasm and in the spirit of motherhood all the moms participated in the event in groups of six to eight. The winners of the first race were Mrs Pratima and Ritika, while the winners in the Tie race were Gunjan and Sophie.

An entertainment treat was planned by the school management as tiny tots Satvik and Kushwant recited beautiful poems dedicated to Mother’s Day. Under the able-guidance of their teacher Mrs Sharmila, the students confidently sung their poems touching the hearts of all present. Little ones from Play and Pre-Nursery Classes — Radhika, Honey, Shranya, Advika, Anushka, Arushi and Tiska — danced on a peppy Bollywood number, while Nursery Class kids namely Anvi, Ayush, Arnav, Dhruvika, Himani, Ishita and Sanvi too grooved on another Bollywood song.

It was time for some Boogi Woogie as Pre-Nursery kids — Aradhya, Ananya, Sanvi, Avni and Nayva stepped up to show their talents. A special performance by the children of Arushi School of Hope — Divyagyan, Pratul, Moksh, Nitin, Kashish, Hitesh and Arnav — was just amazing, the confidence shown by the differently-abled kids was heart-rendering. The heart and soul of the teachers, namely Anjuri Thakur, Sapna Sharma, Sunita Katoch and Mrs Sheela was clearly reflected in all the performances of the kids as they too were seen swaying with the kids, teaching them a few dance moves.

The highlight of the event was that after every performance by the tiny tots, they presented moms their own handmade gifts, which made them felt proud and blessed. The cards made by the children, of course helped by their teachers had sweet poems written on them which touched all present to witness the gala event.

Another notable fact was that under the support and guidance of the AN Vij Charitable Trust, School Principal Neelam Vij has started another school for the underprivileged students namely, Arushi Shining Stars, where parents from lower income segment can send their children to receive the same quality education as any other kid would get. At present the two to six year olds are Piyush, Krishna, Angel, Arushi, Palak and Neha who too were part of the program and presented their mothers with tokens of their love.

An appreciable effort by the school as very few people think of doing such a great job, as mother in unison lauded the efforts of the principal and all the teachers for educating their children so well !!!
