Students of Himalayan Public School, Kaithu, Shimla brought the spirit of patriotism alive on stage as they celebrated their Annual Day at Kali Bari Hall here today. The evening was filled with over all excitement and fun as the students’ in colourful dresses presented a wonderful show that just not made one recall our great heroes like Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Rani Laxmi Bai but also made one reflect back upon the struggle for freedom by great sons of soil – the leaders that changed the destiny of the Nation.

A great personality like Swami Vivekanand was also remembered, who made his mark in the world and brought laurel to the nation. Each child performed with great zeal and enthusiastically that in filled the audience with a sense of belonging.

Suresh Bhardwaj, Education Minister, presided over as the chief guest for the event. He lauded the efforts of the students and teachers to stage a historic event like Jallianwala Bagh massacre that holds great significance for each individual.

“It is very important that we stay connected to our roots. In modern times, as technology is taking over, we as humans are getting disconnected. We are forgetting our language and culture. We should only use phones and internet to a limit but real awareness comes from books, so children should get into the habit of reading,” he added. He also said that our ancient wisdom was much advanced as compared to current times and hence we should value our ancient knowledge and wisdom.

The day ended on an extremely happy note as Bhardwaj gifted a sum of Rs 31,000 to the school management for their excellent performance and effort made to make a difference in society in spite of being a small school.

School Principal presented the Annual Report and thanked everyone for being so supportive.
