auck3The newbies from Nursery Class at Auckland House School for Boys were all excited and energized to participate in their first sports events. The run to the finish line was a huge achievement for them as well as for parents who looked forward to the mornings events. Assistant Superintendent of Police, Shimla, Anjum Ara was the chief guest for the annual Sports Day of the Lower Primary Division, who was warmly greeted by the Director Principal Sunita John and Boys School Principal Michael A. John. Parents were present in large numbers to encourage their wards. The morning began with a colourful PT Display as students from Form I and II jogged out into the field. The first event was with pom poms, followed by an African display with spears supervised by their sports coaches Vijesh Sharma and Satish.

The agility and power strength of Form I and II students were seen during the Taekwando drill under the able-guidance of their coach Balbir Singh, as they amazed the audience with their exemplary performance. What followed next was sheer joy and mesmerizing display of races by the junior section. Tiny tots from Nursery class participated in the flat and necklace races. The results were as follows: Necklace Race – Nursery A – Group 1 – Sanidhya Manoj, Samartha, Ridhwan Singh Kanwar; Group II – Utkarsh Bragta, Kartik Ranta, Tejas Janartha. Flat Race – Nursery B – Group 1 – Aayan Dhanta, Aryaveer Kalta, Dhruv; Group II – Uday Partap Singh, Aaryav Karol, Amish Mantan.

auck2Boys from Lower Kindergarten were quite energetic as they stepped forward for their ball and candy eating races. Very entertaining performances were put up by the boys as they tried to gobble down their candies before rushing towards the finishing line. The winners were: Ball Race – LKG A – Group I – Shivansh Sharma, Satvik, Sidhant Pal; Group II – Shorya Bhavta, Kanish, Pragya Sood. Candy Floss Race – LKG B – Group I – Shashwat Thakur, Rudransh Sood, Aaditya Kumar; Group II – Aadan Gauhar, Siddhant Grover, Anshuman.

Boys from Upper Kindergarten participated in the chef and cap races. It was very sweet too see little chefs run midway to meet their counter parts and give them a bottle of juice to drink, once the juice was finished, both partners were suppose to run to the finish line. The winners were: Chef Race – UKG A – Group I – Adi Bakshi, Pranshul, Kshonish, Shorya Dulta; Group II – Rajveer Singh, Saksham Kaprate, Saksham Nautiya, Rehan Ghai. Next dressed in birthday hats the boys ran fast towards the finish line and the winners were: Cap Race – Group I – Shorya Thakur, Lavyaa Krishan Kaushik, Yajat Chauhan; Group II – Anirudh Punta, Nivedit Dogra, Devaj Sood.

auck1Boys from Class I took their balloons and tried to burst it by sitting on them, quite a few were successful but few failed, while the parents thoroughly enjoyed the show. The winners were: Balloon Race – I A – Group I – Arhan Shah, Paras Katoch, Daksh Sharma; Group II – Sanskar, Yuvran, Abhyuday Chauhan. It was time for some much needed energy as the next set of boys ran towards the finish line, but only after eating their fill of a banana. The winners were: Banana Race – I B – Group I – Aarush Sood, Om Rawat, Modrik Sood; Group II – Shorya Sood, Chirag Sharwan, Kartikya Thakur.

The seniors from Class II seemed pros but the tricky part came when balance and speed together was at stake. The marble spoon race too was quite hilarious to watch as children tried to run with a marble on the spoon and the spoon in their mouth. The winners were: Marble Spoon Race – II A – Group I – Ahsas Rana, Ansh Raj Bramta, Aaditya Primta; Group II – Tanish Thakur, Yashvardhan. It was then time for the carrot race, children were given the task of picking up the carrots with the mouth and running towards the finish line, and the winners were: Carrot Race – II B – Group I – Lokesh Kaundal, Ishan Rana, Ashish Sharma; Group II – Kangur, Paras Kalyan, Aadish Verma.

The skaters stepped onto the field as they tried to show their skills and dexterity under the leadership of their coach, Shimlas’ ace skater, Pankaj Prabhakar. The first event was the speed skating race and the second was the musical chairs, both received lots of cheers, laughter and claps from the parents. The winners were: Skating Race – Group I – Mohit Sood, Tanishq, Moksh; Group II – Sujaan Kaushik, Tanmay, Aashish Sharma. Musical Chairs – Form I and II – Ansh Raj Bramta, Aryaveer Singh Chauhan. Moms and dads too showed their sporting spirit as following in their children’s footsteps they too participate in the event enthusiastically.

The chief guest ASP Ara lauded the effort of the children in her inspiring speech. She emphasized the importance of sports in children’s lives and encouraged the parents to teach their children the right thing by themselves following the right path first. She also requested the school principal to arrange a trip of the students to the Police station for a one on one interaction with the officers to help children learn about the system and police personnel and how they could receive help in any circumstances. The school principal congratulated his staff members and the students for putting up an excellent show and thanked the chief guest and the parents for honouring the occasion with their presence. The sports day ended with the prize distribution ceremony.
