aucAn Inter-House Drama Competition was held at Auckland House School for Boys in the school premises today, showcasing the immense talent among boys. It was a proud moment for the School Principal Michael A. John as he welcomed his esteemed guests and judges for the day, renowned theatre artists Praveen Chandla and Dr. Kamal Manohar Sharma from the Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. The students from four houses — Lefroy, French, Durrant and Mathew — were vying for the trophy and presented some great drama moments, while touching few important themes as they enacted their plays. The audience mostly comprising of peers and students were deeply engrossed as the day progressed.

auck boys17.4 (1)The first performance was by the students of Lefroy House, “Sadhu ki Seekh”, which was based on a story about a boy who was very lazy and only wanted to get through his exams by some miracle. Through this play the artists gave an important message that students should work hard and it was only by diligence that a person can reach his / her goal. Boys participating in this play were Vansh Gandhi, Arnam Arya, Aaditya Kaushal, Sarthak Chawla, Jastej, Sham, Ravi Kalta, Pranav, Tarun, Hardik, Aryan Ruhan among others.

auck boys17.4 (2)“Kooda Faink Virodh Samiti” by French House was the next play performed by the boys and the young couple paired as husband and wife was just amazing. Through this play the boys were giving the message to keep the city clean and not to throw garbage anywhere. Young performers of this play were Satvik Guleri, Savir Sharma, Piyush Sharma, Arjit Kashyap, Sujat, Mohit, Nanda, Yashvit, Vansh Puri, Anirudh, Kartik, Suresh, Manmeet Singh, Sahil, Davyansh Akshya and Ishan among others.

auck boys17.4 (3)The boys of Durrant House staged the play “Bharashtachar Yukt Rajneeti”, a satire portraying the gloomy picture of corruption in politics. It showed how our politicians use the general masses and makes a fool of them for their own personal interests. The participants were Saransh, Pritivish, Aakansha, Umang Aryan, Kunal, Devayansh Jagat Arya, Vishal, Kapil, Kshitij, Himanshu, Arvind and Eshan.

The last performance was from Mathew House, titled “Paise Ka Ped”, which was a story of a boy who inspired his friends to help the needy. The participants were Ayush Goel, Paras Thakur, Siddarth, Parth Sharma, Ujwal Rajput, Pringan Mahajan, Abhijay Goel, Manpreet Singh, Aditya Sharma, Aryan Kapoor, Prunal Sharma, Arman, Harshit and Keshav.

All the presentations were amazing and the boys gave some excellent performances. The sheer dedication to give in their best was witnessed with some great makeup work and dialogue delivery by the boys.

An entertaining item by the school’s musical band was also performed, which was lead by Piyush, Ayush, Satvik and Aryan.

auck-boys17.4-(4)After viewing few great performances by the youngsters the judges were quite impressed to see such talent at this tender age. They congratulated the boys and gave them some fine pointers on how to further improve their acting skills. The much awaited results too were announced as Mathew House was declared as the winner followed by French House and the third prize was jointly shared by Lefroy and Durrant House. The all rounder best actor award was given to Savir Sharma from French House and he also won the best participation award. Jaspreet Singh from Lefroy House; Savansh Sharma and Jagat Narayan from Durrant House were also given prizes for their performances. Certificates were then given by the judges Praveen Chawla and Dr Sharma.

Principal John gave the vote of thanks and lauded the efforts of the students and teachers for putting up some brilliant performances. He also appreciated the efforts put in by the teachers, namely, Seeta Sharma, Seema, Alka Sharma, Parul Sood, Elizabeth Robinson, Diva Bisht, Sangeet Raj Khanna, Ina Sharma, Minakashi Thakur, Sanjay Mehta (music teacher) and Aaina among others, without whose help the day would not have been possible.
