Perfecting Cooking and Dancing Skills at Winter Camp: Shemrock Buttercups

shamrockAs winters descend on Shimlaites with almost a three month break until the next academic session, parents have a tough time deciding how to keep their wards busy. The Winter Camp held at Shemrock Buttercups, (a play school) Khalini, offered some amazing activities such as Yoga, Art & Craft, Dance, Cooking, Personality Development and Creative Writing. Principal Umang Banga said, “The 15 day camp began on 13th December and about 26 children from age group 3-12 years participated. The focus was to provide a playful and entertaining environment coupled with some serious learning”. She further added that children were eager to learn cooking and dancing, while through Yoga they learnt the benefits of exercising and healthy living.

Vishesh Gurmat Samagam: An Educational Initiative on Sikhism

samagamCelebrating the martyrdom of the sons of Shri Guru Gobind Singh aka Shahidi Divas, the Dharam Prachar Committee Singh Sabha in association with the Sahibzada Youth Federation, Shimla organized a five day long Vishesh Gurmat Samagam. During this Samagam various competitions were held for nearly 70 children between the age groups of four to twelve years, who participated in events such as poetry, drawing, quiz and declamation. The first event began on 21st December, 2013 in the evening, when children gave few scintillating performances by singing aarti, kirtan, poetry, lectures, ardaas, hukumnaama and sukhaasan, enlightening and entertaining everyone about the rich heritage of Sikhism and their culture.

Fun & Frolic during Annual Fete: Saint Ann’s Academy, Jaipur

saintAnneTo end the year on an enjoyable and entertaining spirit the school authorities at Saint Ann’s Academy organized a Fete for the students and their parents. The thrill and enthusiasm to make the event a huge success was evident among students and teachers alike. Principal G.S. Roy who with the assistance of the Head Mistress Iris Soreng monitored the sales of the coupons informed that more than 12 stalls had been put up by the teachers. Principal Roy added that plenty of eatables such as Chinese, French Fries, dhokhla, idli sambhar, bhel puri, candy floss, ice creams, patties, cake-pastries, popcorns, cold drinks etc were on offer. Fun games such as rings, car race, chocolate wheel, ball in the pot, lucky dip and dart board were available for kids to try their luck at.

Christmas Celebrations in Saint Ann’s Academy, Jaipur

saintAnnXmasThe students and teachers of Saint Ann’s Academy, Jaipur, decorated the entire school during the Christmas Celebrations held prior to the closing of winter break on 20th December, 2013. All the classrooms were decorated with small Christmas trees, stars, bells, balls, Santa caps, sock and snowmen depicting the spirit of the season. Principal G.S. Roy said, “This was a time for peace and inculcating the spirit of giving and sharing among students. We ensure that children experience all the festivities in their full colour and splendour”.

CM Grooves with Portmore Students during Annual Day Celebrations

portmoreThe students of Government Girls Senior Secondary School Portmore celebrated their Annual Day and Prize Distribution function with great zeal, enthusiasm and passion, which was clearly reflected in each and every performance given by them. Honorable Chief Minister, Virbhadra Singh graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and took the Guard of Honor by the scouts and guides followed by a March Past by the students of Portmore School. He was then guided by Principal Nisha Bhaluni and Vice Principal, Dipshikha to the auditorium where he lighted the lamp following which the function began. Other dignitaries present were Mayor Sanjay Chauhan and former Deputy Mayor Harish Janartha.

Celebrating Life with Differently-abled Children: UDAAN

udaanUDAAN, a Shimla-based NGO, actively working and catering to the special need of differently abled children, organized a community awareness campaign “Badhte Kadam V”, from 28th to 30th November, 2013, which concluded today with lively celebrations and dance performances by children at the Gaiety Theatre, Shimla. Lalita Rana, an active member as well as spokesperson for UDAAN informed that the three day Awareness Campaign on Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Himachal Pradesh began with a rally or Jaagrukta Divas on 28th November, in which parents and children took part. On 29th November an Early Intervention Seminar was organized by the NGO in which special educators, IGMC doctors, university psychologists and parents participated exchanging ideas and discussing the special needs of these special children. And todays’ Cultural Inclusion fest was organized to show that differently abled children were celebrating life as any normal kid in the society. The stage was set ablaze with performances by both, the normal as well as special children as the audiences clapped loudly encouraging one and all.

Junior School Christmas Celebration: Convent of Jesus and Mary

Little angels of classes Nursery and Kindergarten celebrated the Christmas Day at Convent of Jesus and Mary, (famously known as Chelsea School) before the end of the 2013 session. The celebrations began with a play depicting the birth of Jesus Christ. Principal Sister Shyma and Manager Sister Alma Abraham were the Chief Guest for the day. However, the Celebrations were spread over two days, 28th and 29th November. Seniors participated on the first day.

The event was inaugurated by Chairman, Rajeev Sharma on 29th accompanied with his wife, Anoop Sharma, Secretary, DVPS. On the final day DSP Nalagarh, Nishchint Singh presided over the function. Other dignitaries present were Mrs Gurnam Kaur, Mr Gurbinder and Mrs Harsha who graced the occasion and gave their blessings to the students.

A Precursor to Christmas Celebration: Auckland House School

AHS_28.11.13_stampStudents and teachers of Auckland House School celebrated the Christmas spirit with a Carol Service on Thursday with religious gaiety and fervor. It was an appropriate end to the current Academic Session with prayers offered to Lord Jesus Christ.

The programme began with Special Prayer. Pastor Nira Malak began by citing the teachings from the Holy Bible. Carols were sung in praise of the birth of Lord Jesus Christ. The school choir enthralled the audience and the entire atmosphere became sacrosanct and sanctified and everybody’s heart was filled with joy and the Lord’s Grace.

Grand Finale Performance by Sparkling Regalites

regal_finalleA perfect, vibrant and spirited ending to the two day event, the 21st Annual Day Celebrations by the tiny tots of Regal Public School, Shimla. Each and every child performed on the stage and the best part, all students gave individual performances too, whether it was a poem, song or dance, just before receiving their prizes.  Principal, Manmohan Khanna was happy with the concert and gave full credit to his hard working staff, Anupam Dogra, Aradhana, Nisha Verma, Vidya, Divya, Monika, Neelam and Nisha Kashyap. He said, “We put in lots of efforts to ensure that every child gets to perform on the stage, no matter how big or small the act it. I also wish to express my gratitude and appreciation towards my teaching and support staff as it is their patience and diligence that has been reflected on the stage today”.

Innocence Wins Hearts: Regal School’s Annual Day

Fun ‘n’ Frolic Noon Spent with Differently-abled Children: Rotary Shimla Mid Town

“Differently-abled children (and their parents) have dreams, just like you do. We also need friends and love, just like you do. We are more like you than we are different”. Today was yet another special day when an afternoon was spent with differently abled children from the Deaf and Dumb School, Dhalli, under an initiative by Rotary Shimla Mid Town. Rotary Club had organized an enjoyable evening for children during the visit of Governor (Rotary District 3080), Rotarian Rakesh Aggarwal, the First Lady, Anne Neelima Aggarwal, and President, Ram Gopal Sood, Rotary Shimla Mid Town. The others present were Rotarian Dhyanchand, Rotarian IPP Pankaj Dadwal, newest addition to the Rotary family, Suparna, the recently inducted young Rotaracts from RKMV College Preeti, Puja, Priyanka and Naina and Rotaracts from Institute of Hotel Management, Irfan, Mukul and Rishi.

Tiny Tots Rock the Ramp Walk: Shemrock Smart Kids

Cottonians Corn Bhel Rocks and Coffee Paintings Applauded

Singh, former Chairman of Central Board of Direct Taxes of India. On his arrival the ceremonial lightning of the lamp took place after which he walked around the halls and classes appreciating the artwork and items prepared by the children.

Cottonians show Great Sportsmanship despite Washout

012_Sports-Day_BCS_28.9.13Bishop Cotton School celebrated its Annual Sports Day on 28th September, 2013 as the special guests for the occasion were the old Cottonians of 1963 batch, who were warmly greeted by the Headmaster, Christopher Robinson. The guests were then escorted by the Headmaster to the field who unfurled the flag, then released pigeons and balloons into the air, which was followed by the traditional lighting of the flame by the Athletics Captain who then led the impressive March Past and the oath taking ceremony. Then the school song was sung by the students.

ECI Chalet Day Students Receive Cash Prize from Minister
